Yoga Alliance Coursework

Our study focus is centered around the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Light on Yoga by BKS Iyengar. We will discuss each sutra thoroughly, breakdown common hatha and Ashtanga  vinyasa asanas and work through sequencing and language for teaching classes. You will learn and practice many traditional pranayama and meditation techniques daily.

The textbooks and coursework fulfill the Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training requirements.

You know that only you can change your life; Are you ready to feel empowered to take the next steps?

Do you want to learn more about the true meaning of yoga so that you can build and maintain a daily yoga practice?

Do you often grapple with questions like, Who am I and why am I here?

‘We believe that our natural state is one of peace and tranquility — that an ocean of bliss already lies within you. And yet, most of us experience turbulent, choppy waves due to our identification with the external world and a narrow perception of our Truth.

Job opportunities on Bonaire

Tara’s Ashtanga community on the island is growing. There is great demand for Ashtanga lessons outside the early morning Mysore program that she teaches. But one person cannot fill up all these hours.

After completing this teacher training program, we have opportunities for you to practice and develop your teaching skills and become one of our paid studio teachers.

Margaret Ward

"If you are serious about becoming a yoga teacher, this is the best

place to start".

Amanda Schimdt

"I came with no expectations and left a new woman. Ive been inspired beyond what I found myself capable of".

Madelaine Marie

"I walked away with a greater  intelligence on the practice of yoga, but also with a greater knowledge about myself as an individual ".

Courtney, an ex-gymnast, spinally fused, 18-year yogi, Ashtangi, trained in India, with a gypSEA soul whose practice draws from hatha, kundalini and vinyasa. Her heart-centered approach evokes an understanding of interconnectedness through a focus on self-love, nature and seva (service). The intention being for my students to discover the light within that ignites their path to inner peace, the connection which opens the heart to universal love.

After 10 years as a competitive gymnast, lower back surgery brought my athletic ability to a halt. Looking for a way to ease the pain and regain strength and flexibility, I discovered yoga and immediately fell in love with the practice, quickly learning its transformational power over the mind and path to freedom. Embarking on this journey meant a lifelong quest for self-knowledge, love, and humility. In 2010 I volunteered in India and earned my yoga teaching certification. My time in India inspired me to establish my own NGO, Kids’ Foundation for Uniting Nations which connects and inspires kids around the world to initiate positive change through service.

Born in the Netherlands, with Indian roots and a Vedic pandit as grandfather, she was introduced to the various branches of yoga at an early age; mantra chanting, meditation, pranayama, assisting poojas and reciting Vedic Sanskrit texts. At age 39 she discovered yoga asana, physical yoga practice. After practicing Bikram yoga intensively for five years, including participation in the Dutch national championships, she was drawn more to her roots. Ashtanga yoga brought together all the aspects she had been exposed to from early on in life. So she set off to India to learn from the teachers who resonated with her.

She continues her daily Mysore practice before teaching the Mysore group in her Shala and regularly visits her Ashtanga teachers world-wide. She regards Petri Räisanen as her main teacher and has the privilege of assisting him during his retreats with, what his wife Wambui Njuguna-Räisanen calls, her healing hands.

Tara has a special gift of bringing community together and built a Mysore community in Arnhem, the Netherlands and Bonaire, where she currently lives.

Laruga Glaser SPECIAL GUEST TEACHER

CERTIFIED ASHTANGA TEACHER SYC/KPJAYI

From June 19-24 Laruga Glaser  will be on Bonaire for a Mysore intensive retreat. Students of the TTC have free access to this intensive.

Laruga Glaser has been practicing Ashtanga yoga continuously for over 23 years. Starting at the beginning of her 20s, she was immediately drawn to the practice after working with other forms of yoga years prior. After establishing a committed practice she then deepened her studies traveling to Mysore, India annually to practice at KPJAYI where the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois teaches.

Laruga has made more than 14 trips to Mysore and is on a mission to continue to learn and grow as a student as well as a teacher. She is one of the few in the world who have been given the distinction of being certified to teach up to Advanced B, which is not easily given and takes many years to earn. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential, and has been personally invited all over the world to do so.
